Farm Tracks

As an optional extra with your stay, take advantage of the marked tracks each offering a different experience including native bush, wildlife and spectacular panoramic views.

Our farm tracks can be explored by foot, bike or your own horse.

All tracks are self-guided, and access is included in the cost of your accommodation.

We have paddocks, water and washdown facilities next door to the shearers quarters.

We also have a donation box to go towards the riparian planting of the Akitio river track!

Coastal lookout
5 km loop

Get your bearings with a birds-eye view of the three local stations homesteads and of the Pacific Ocean.

The river track
8 km return

Flat and easy. Follow the farms main laneway alongside the Akitio river up to Blue gum yards and back. A beautiful outing.

Top of the world
10km loop

A good climb encompassing dramatic scenery with 360-degree views.

Green hill
10.3km loop

Starting off on the river track, head back up and around (gently) onto the tops for the stunning high views.

Harkers yards
13km loop

Challenge yourself on this happy medium and still take in the great views.

Beach & River

Freely accessible and right on the doorstep, the three kilometres of tar-seal road along the Akitio River and Akitio Beach are great for biking and walking.

Kayaks are available and are included with your stay.

Akitio Beach is a great sandy swimming beach and also a popular surfing spot.

The Akitio Boat Club welcomes non-members for a drink.
